Websites For Producing, Editing And Monetizing Online Video Content

This will be the final post in our current series,  “Content = Money.” So far in this series, I’ve covered a lot of websites where you can make money from all types of written content, websites where you can cash in on photo content, and websites where you can profit off of audio content. In this post, I will cover some websites where you can make money from your video content.

With the devices that are accessible to us today, video creation has become incredibly easy for the average person, but before smartphones, if you wanted to create videos, you had to go out and buy a camcorder which was not cheap, especially if you wanted a really good camcorder. Now if you were able to get your hands on a decent camcorder, you had to know a thing or two about videography in order to produce decent video content that you could monetize, or you had to hire someone to edit your videos which could cost hundreds.

Fortunately, times have changed, technologies have improved, and platforms have emerged that enable amateur video makers to monetize their work much more easily. Thanks to smartphones and other technologies available today, almost anyone can create video content; and, because of the internet and technologies made possible by the internet, it no longer costs a fortune to edit your video content. There are actually quite a few digital tools and resources that you can find online that will enable you to edit your videos for free. As a result of everything I just mentioned, several online platforms have emerged, such as YouTube,  that allow amateur video producers to upload their content and make money from it. I will now discuss some of these platforms in this post.

Video Monetization Platforms

Now that you have at least the most necessary tools to help you produce quality videos, where can you go to monetize them?

There is a number of online platforms that are free to register to which will enable you to earn money from your videos. Some of these platforms allow you to sell your videos, and others compensate their contributors through one form of revenue sharing or another. In this post, we’re going to look at some platforms that use revenue sharing programs to compensate their contributors. All of the platforms that I have listed below are the ones that I could find in my research, but keep in mind that these may not be the only platforms out there and, in fact, probably are not the only ones out there.

Cocoscope

This is a video hosting platform that will host your videos for free, and enable you to monetize your videos almost immediately. On Cocoscope, you can accept tips from fans, charge a subscription fee, or sell individual videos.

Daily Motion

On Daily Motion, videos are served with in-stream advertisements, which are ads that appear before, during, or after a video. As a video creator on Daily Motion, you are allowed to share in the revenue that these ads generate, therefore, the more viewers that your videos recieve, the more money you will make.

Envul

Envul is a video gaming platform where avid gamers can upload and monetize videos of their game play. Gamers are paid on a per view basis via PayPal. Gamers can also accept donations from fans, and earn a 10% override on anyone that they refer to Envul through the Envul referral program.

Flash X

If you upload your videos to Flash X, you will be paid an amount per 1,000 views that your videos recieve. The amount that you are paid varies depending on the duration of each of your videos. The payment structure is shown in the bullet points below.

  • 1-5 min. = $1.00 for 1,000 views
  • 5-60 min. = $3.00 for 1,000 views
  • 60-90 min. = $4.00 for 1,000 views
  • 90+ min. = $5.00 for 1,000 views

One of the great things about this platform is that your viewers only need to watch 10% of one of your videos in order for you to get paid. Another advantage is that you are given your own links to each video that you upload, and you are also given the ability to embed your videos on your website or blog so that you can easily share them.

Genero

Genero is a networking platform where brands and musicians can collaborate with video creators to create video ads for their brand, or music videos for their songs. Video creators can register for free, view open briefs and submit their ideas. “Then coast from commission to completion with a streamlined workflow and tools to help with communication, feedback, approvals, and payments.”

Imagen

Imagen is a video hosting, management and distribution platform, which allows video creators to monetize their work through subscription based models, or through one time payments for each video.

As a video publisher, Oculu compensates you by sharing ad revenue with you. You can also substantially increase your earnings on Oculu by running your own ads with your video content.

The Ooyala Flex Media Platform offers an “open and extensible way to manage, curate, orchestrate, deliver and monetize your content so that you can meet all the demands of media production and distribution now and in the future.”

20190801_051450

Twitch

You can create your own channel on Twitch right now as an affiliate, and monetize it through viewer subscriptions, and viewer donations.

When your channel gets enough daily viewers consistently, you then graduate from an affiliate  to a partner, at which point Twitch will begin sharing ad revenue with you on top of your channel’s subscription revenue and it’s donation revenue.

20190801_054742

Vidinterest

Vidinterest is a very unique platform, one of a kind, in fact. The reason that I say that is because, to earn money on Vidinterest, you do not have to create videos at all, you just have to simply share videos that you find on YouTube, that’s it!

Vidinterest is all about content discovery, so figure out which type of videos are trending, and share them on Vidinterest where you’ll get $1.00 for every 500 views.

X Video Sharing

This is another pay-per- view video hosting and sharing website. I must disclose the fact that compensation is on the low side at $1.00 per 1,000 views.

20190801_095502

YouTube

I couldn’t have published this post without mentioning the top dog of video streaming platforms which is, of course, the almighty YouTube. Aside from being the top video streaming platform in the known universe, YouTube is also the second largest search engine on the planet, next to Google; and, not coincidentally, YouTube is owned by Google, imagine that.

There are several ways to monetize your YouTube channel, but in this post, we’re going to look at just one way, and that is YouTube’s official partner program.

YouTube creators that qualify to monetize their channel through this program, get a share of YouTube’s ad revenue through Google Adsense. I think I should mention that, currently, YouTube gets literally over 100 million video views per day! Needless to say, if you are accepted into YouTube’s official partner program, you are making the big bucks.

Qualifying for YouTube’s partner program is not easy. In order to qualify to even be considered for the program, your channel must have at least 4,000 watch hours in the previous 12 months, AND a minimum of 1,000 subscribers.

Now, if you do not meet these steep requirements, not to worry, as their are several other ways to monetize your YouTube videos without being a part of YouTube’s official partner program.

Final Words

If you’ve ever thought about creating and monetizing videos online, even a little bit, then I encourage you to explore this further. Do not be intimidated by the prospect because you don’t have any prior experience in video creation, as their are many video creators making seven figures that started as complete amateurs.

Do not think that you will not succeed if you do not have some fantastic idea for a video channel, because indeed you would be surprised at some of the video creators that are making good money off ridiculous or silly ideas (that’s putting it nicely).

If you feel that you are boring, do not let that stop you either, as their are many creators whom would be considered boring, but are making money off of their very monotone, yet extremely helpful video tutorials.

To succeed, you only need to be slightly entertaining,  somewhat original, or teach people something that they do not know; and you do not need all three of these attributes to make your efforts profitable, indeed you will only need one.

Thank you for reading.
