Last week, I published The Ultimate Facebook Toolbox, and I had mentioned that I would create a toolbox for each of the top social media networks. So, in order to make good on this promise, here is your next toolbox, The Ultimate Twitter Toolbox.
First, what is it that makes Twitter worthy to be considered one of the top social media networks? Let’s take a look at some stats.
- About 500 million tweets are sent each day, that’s 5,878 tweets that are being sent every second!
- 326 million people are using Twitter every single month, and 9% more people are using Twitter every day.
- 80% of Twitter users are affluent millennials.
- 71% of Twitter users are reading news on Twitter.
- Twitter is the #1 platform for government leaders.
- People are 31% more likely to recall what they saw on Twitter.
- 75% of B2B businesses market on Twitter.
- Twitter ads are 11% more effective than TV ads during live events.
- 40% of users say that they made a purchase because of an influencer’s tweet.
I don’t know what these statistics tell you, but what they tell me is that I need to get my business on Twitter. Along with Facebook, Twitter is another social network that has such a strong influence on consumers that failing to establish a presence on Twitter would not only be very neglectful of your business from a marketing standpoint, but it would be highly detrimental to your business from a competitive standpoint. If you don’t think that your peers and your competition are using Twitter’s influence to their advantage, then you are in for a very rude awakening.
If you are not already promoting yourself or your business on Twitter, I would reach through the screen of whatever device you’re using to read this on if I could and slap you awake.
If you’re not on Twitter, get on it TODAY, and if you are on Twitter, be more active on it from here on out.
