For this post in our series about The E-commerce Revolution, I’m going to talk about one of the most commonly sold products on the Internet, and that is books and other types of publications such as comics, and magazines.
Many of you that are reading this, enjoy writing just as much as I do. Perhaps you love telling stories, or maybe you enjoy teaching people things. Some of you out there aspire to become published authors, but have not yet taken the steps to make that happen. If any of these things pertain to you, then this post is definitely for you.
There are also those of you who are not necessarily interested in writing, but you love to read. This may be apparent by the library of books you have collected over the years. Now, many of these books in your library just collect dust and take up space. A book only has use if it is being read or studied, so if you have books that are just sitting on the shelves, why not turn them into cash? This post will tell you how.
If you’re currently a college student, then indeed you have several textbooks. Most of these textbooks have their use for only a semester, and thereafter, they become dead weight in your hands. Next semester, other students are going to be taking the classes that you are taking this semester, why not capitalize on this fact and sell your textbooks to those students when your finished? This post will give you a list of websites where you can cash in on the textbooks that you no will no longer need once the semester ends.
If you have books that you want to sell, whether you wrote them or not; and whether they are digital or print, this post will point you to the right websites where you can turn your books and other publications into cash.
Selling Used Textbooks
When I was in college, the first thing that I would do at the end of each semester, often right after taking the final exams, is sell my textbooks. I would then use the money that I made to celebrate the end of the semester with fun and debauchery.
I imagine that most students probably end up selling their used textbooks. If you are currently a college student, more than likely, there is a store on or near your campus that will give you cash for your used textbooks. The problem with this store is that there is no negotiating the offer that you are given for your textbooks, you either take it or you leave it.
Most students don’t realize that they are selling their textbooks for less than they can actually get for them. There are several websites that will buy your used textbooks from you, often for more than what the stores on or near your campus will give you, and they will even cover the shipping costs for you. I’ve listed a few of these websites for you below.
Give Blue Rocket Books the ISBN # of each textbook that you want to sell, and they will give you a fair offer. If you accept the offer, they will send you a pre-paid package to ship your book to them in so that you don’t have to pay for shipping. Once they receive your book, you will be paid within 10 business days.

You are responsible for shipping books that you sell on this platform, so you may want to factor in shipping costs when you’re setting prices for your books.

Create Multiple Income Streams With Your Publications
Once you have the final draft of a book completed, it is wise to make it available in every format possible so that you can maximize your revenue. Although, e-books have become the preferred book format for most readers, there is a good number of people who still prefer to have a physical copy of the books that they read.
So, this should tell you that it is best to make your books available in e-book and print form. For print versions of your book, paperback is relatively inexpensive to manufacture. I advise against having a hard cover version of your book as it is needlessly expensive and unnecessary.
You should have a third format for your books available for those who prefer to listen instead of read. Audiobooks are becoming increasingly popular, and this is an additional revenue stream for you.
Finally, if you really want to maximize your revenue from your publications, after making sure that it is available in print, digital, and audiobook formats, it would be wise to adapt it into as many different languages as possible.
Let’s take a look at a few platforms where you can create audio versions of your books, and adapt them into other languages.
