Freebie Friday VII: Free Review Monitoring

For this issue of Freebie Friday, I have a tool for you that you’re going to want to implement right away. There is a website called Free Review Monitoring, and what this website does is it enables you to monitor the top review websites for mentions of your business or brand. This is a crucial tool that should be in every business owner’s arsenal.

84% of consumers say that online reviews have an influence on their decision to purchase, and 70% of consumers trust online reviews just as much as they trust personal recommendations. These stats should tell you that the importance of managing your online reputation cannot be emphasized enough.

Just one or two bad reviews can be quite detrimental to your business, however, 95% of unhappy customers will consider returning if their issue is resolved quickly. With that being the case, you should have a way to stay informed on what people are saying about your business so that you can be proactive about responding to bad reviews and resolving customers’ issues as quickly as possible.

Of course, most of us don’t have the time to check all the review websites everyday, so Free Review Monitoring is a tool that will do this for you. Let’s take a look at what Free Review Monitoring can do.

Free Review Monitoring

Free Review Monitoring is free to sign up to you and use, hence the word “free” in the name. When you sign up, you get a simple, user friendly dashboard where you can set up review monitoring for your business. If your business has multiple locations or websites, you can set up review monitoring for each one that you have.

Free Review Monitoring will send you email updates with the latest reviews which you can set to recieve Weekly, Daily, or in Real Time.  If you do not wish to recieve email updates, and would rather log in to your Free Review Monitoring dashboard to check the latest reviews, there is an option for that as well.

When you click on “view details” for each location that you have set up, you will be taken to a page where all of the reviews for that location will be listed for you on the left. In the top right corner of this page, you can see the average star rating that your business has overall for that particular location. Listed underneath that, you’ll be shown the average star rating that your business has from each review website that Free Review Monitoring monitors which are as follows:

  • Google
  • Yelp
  • Citysearch
  • Facebook
  • Foursquare

If you do not already have a business profile set up on each of the five websites listed above, I highly recommend doing so, that way you can encourage satisfied customers to write positive reviews for your business.

Aside from being able to monitor reviews for your own business, you will have the ability to spy on your biggest competitor also. Positive reviews will help you learn what your competition is doing that is working so that you can implement the same strategies. When your competitor gets negative reviews, these are opportunities for you to capitalize on, and outshine them.
